Listen to Lily Allen's new single

We first wrote about Lily Allen's new single back in April when it appeared on her MySpace page. Since then it's changed its name from 'I Don't Know' to 'The Fear' and been spruced up a bit, but it's still the same brilliant electropop track on which Lily takes a few swipes at celebrity culture. The "weapon of massive consumption" line is probably our favourite.

You can listen to 'The Fear' by braving a not-so-subtle plug for the album and pressing play below.

What do you think of 'The Fear'? How does it measure up to Lily Allen's past singles? Use the space below to have your say.

Have Take That sealed the deal?

It's midday on Friday, which means it's time for the final update from the midweek charts:
  • Gary, Mark, Howard and Jason, you need to draw straws - who wants to talk to Fearne 'n' Reggie at 6.50pm on Sunday?
  • Incidentally, Take That are also inside the top 30 with the year-old 'Rule The World'.
  • Katy Perry's 'Hot N Cold' is sticking to its guns at #5.
  • Britney's X Factor performance will have to be very special indeed if she wants 'Womanizer' to leap up the chart again.
  • McFly have bounced back to #12 with their Children In Need double A-side. Can they sneak into the top ten for Sunday?
  • George Sampson has climbed to #24 with his double A-side debut, but it's probably a case of too little, too late.
  • Madonna has inched up to #36 with 'Miles Away'. Oh dear.

Good news for Katy Perry, Rihanna

Here's today's update from the action-packed midweek charts:

  • Take That should probably pop the champagne on ice for Sunday. 'Greatest Day' is pretty much a dead cert for the number one spot.

  • Katy Perry's 'Hot N Cold' is clinging valiantly to its position in the top five.

  • Britney's 'Womanizer' and Same Difference's 'We R One' are still bringing up the rear of the top ten.

  • After climbing to eleven yesterday, McFly have slipped back to 13 with their Children In Need double A-side. Might it become their first single to miss the top ten?

  • Rihanna and Justin's 'Rehab', which doesn't even have a release date yet, is already in the top 30.

  • Madonna's 'Miles Away' has climbed from the #38 spot... all the way up to #37.

  • Check back tomorrow for one last midweek chart update before Sunday.

Better news for McFly, but not for Madonna

So, what's going on in the midweek charts today? We'll warn you now Madonna fans, you might want to get the tissues handy.

  • Take That's 'Greatest Day' is still at number one and outselling its nearest rival, Beyoncé's 'If I Were A Boy', by two to one.

  • Britney's 'Womanizer' is showing no sign whatsoever of wanting to threaten the top five.

  • Same Difference are still bringing up the rear of the top ten with 'We R One'.

  • Having climbed six places since yesterday, McFly are now just outside the top ten with their Children In Need double A-side.

  • George Sampson has actually dropped a place since yesterday, so we're guessing it's not exactly party time at Cowell Towers.

  • Madonna is... wait for... still at a fairly woeful #38. Is 'Miles Away' really going to become the biggest flop of her career?

  • Check back tomorrow for more news on how Madonna, McFly and the gang are doing in the midweeks.
